Third Investment Summit kicks off in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Today, the Third Investment Summit kicks off with a grand opening ceremony, signaling the launch of an ambitious initiative to attract foreign direct investment and ignite development projects vital for Nepal’s economic advancement.

The summit, organized by the government with a focus on economic progress, presents a platform teeming with potential, offering a total of 151 projects. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is slated to inaugurate the event, which is set to welcome over 1600 investors hailing from more than 55 countries.

During the two-day international event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in 11 parallel sessions, with the first day encompassing crucial sessions alongside the ceremonial inauguration. Investors will have exclusive opportunities to engage with Prime Minister Dahal and Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun throughout the summit, facilitating meaningful dialogues and potential partnerships.

Recognizing the indispensable role of the private sector in economic development, the event is co-organized by private sector entities, emphasizing collaborative efforts towards progress.

The summit boasts an illustrious lineup of international figures, including Indian Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal; State Minister for UK Asia Pacific Affairs, Anne-Marie Trevelyan; UNCTAD Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan; and Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency, Luo Zhaohui, among others.

Furthermore, former Prime Minister and major opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, along with Finance Minister and summit convention committee director, Barsha Man Pun, will address the gathering, alongside leaders from the Nepali business community.
