Kathmandu: Thai Air Asia has resumed operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, following the launch of commercial flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa starting Sunday.
This marks Thai Air Asia as the fourth airline to provide commercial services at GBIA, Nepal’s second international airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had previously imposed sanctions on the airline after a flight arrived in Kathmandu on October 27 without the necessary flight permit. CAAN has since granted permission for Thai Air Asia to operate at TIA, contingent upon maintaining flights from GBIA.
On Sunday, the airline initiated services to both TIA and GBIA. According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager at TIA, Thai Air Asia plans to operate flights to TIA every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while flights to GBIA will occur every Monday and Thursday.
