Kathmandu: Police have arrested Dhan Bahadur Syangtang, a key suspect in a series of robberies targeting hikers in the Kathmandu Valley. The arrest followed a special operation by the Kathmandu District Police Range.
The operation was launched after three individuals armed with sharp weapons threatened travelers in a vehicle near Bindabasini Temple in Nagarjun Municipality-7, Kathmandu, before fleeing. Syangtang, identified as the group’s leader, was apprehended during a checkpoint search in Syuchatar.
Police recovered sharp weapons and stolen items from Syangtang. This arrest comes amid a rise in robbery incidents in hiking areas across Kathmandu.
