Supreme Court scraps petition filed demanding cacellation of Rabi Lamichhane’s MP post

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has rejected the writ petition filed against the Chairman of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, demanding the cancellation of his position as a Member of Parliament.

On Wednesday, a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Anand Mohan Bhattarai, Prakashman Singh Raut and Sapana Pradhan Malla dismissed the writ petition.

Advocate Yuvraj Safal Poudel filed a writ petition, along with the Election Commission as an opponent.

It was claimed that Rabi Lamichhane is ineligible to become an MP in the writ petition raising issues such as passport misuse.
