Supreme Court petition seeks removal of Rabi Lamichhane from his minister post

Kathmandu: A writ petition has been lodged in the Supreme Court (SC) urging the removal of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane from his roles as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.

Advocate Anupam Bhattarai filed the petition on Monday with the Office of the Attorney General, listing Attorney General Dina Mani Pokharel and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane as respondents.

The petition specifically calls for Lamichhane’s suspension due to alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud case. Furthermore, it demands the annulment of a letter from the Office of the Attorney General which asserts no grounds for legal action against him.

The petitioner contends that Lamichhane’s continued tenure in office might impede the investigation into the cooperative fraud allegations.
