Short-term interim order to halt process of privatizing NAC

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to halt the entire process of privatization of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).

Hearing a writ petition filed by Atis Karki on behalf of the Nepali Party demanding that the privatization of the corporation should not be halted, a bench of Justice Kumar Regmi issued a short-term interim order not to proceed with any privatization work.

The Supreme Court has directed both the parties to file a written reply within 15 days for further discussion on the issue.

The order states that it will be easier to reach a conclusion of the interim order after discussions between the two sides. For the privatization of Nepal Airlines Corporation, the corporation has already submitted the management letter and rules of the new company to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
