Kathmandu: Supreme Court today dismissed all appeals filed by internet service providers regarding tax evasion.
Following an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, it was revealed that a staggering NPR 2.5 billion in taxes had been evaded by these providers. Subsequently, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority was directed for immediate settlement of the outstanding dues.
This directive was challenged by WorldLink, a prominent internet service provider, by filing a petition in the Supreme Court. However, the apex court’s decision upholds the government’s stance on tax payments.
With this ruling, the pathway for tax settlement has been cleared, marking a decisive step towards ensuring compliance within the telecommunications sector.
