RSP MPs urge release of Rabi Lamichhane to facilitate investigation

Kathmandu: Members of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have requested the release of party chairman Ravi Lamichhane from custody to allow for a fair investigation process. During a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee in the House of Representatives, MP Dr. Chanda Karki emphasized that Lamichhane is not a flight risk and urged Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to avoid any political vendetta.

Dr. Karki pointed out that Lamichhane has already submitted his statement and evidence to the parliamentary committee and that there is no risk of him destroying any evidence. “He is not the kind of person to flee,” she stated. “I urge the Home Minister to release Ravi Lamichhane so that the investigation can proceed smoothly.”

She also expressed concerns about the public reaction to the detention of a prominent political figure who received over 1.2 million votes and leads the country’s fourth-largest party, stating that it is natural for citizens to protest under such circumstances. Dr. Karki cautioned against interpreting this situation as an attempt to influence the judiciary.
