RPP shifts protest venue to Balkhu after Bhrikuti Mandap denied permission

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to hold its protest in Balkhu on Tuesday, following a directive from the District Administration Office (DAO) Kathmandu. Originally planned for Bhrikuti Mandap, the protest venue was changed after the local administration denied permission due to security concerns.

RPP Spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha confirmed that the protest and mass assembly would now take place at Balkhu, in line with the DAO’s recommendation. The RPP had initially informed the administration of their planned protest at Bhrikuti Mandap on April 4, but after discussions, the DAO allowed only Balkhu or Siphal as alternative venues.

The RPP’s protest has garnered support from the Joint People’s Movement Committee (JPMC), with coordinator Jagman Gurung urging active participation in the movement aimed at reinstating the monarchy.
