Restrictions imposed on alcohol and meat sales during Janakpurdham’s Sita-Ram Vivah Panchami festival

Kathmandu: On the occassion of Sita-Ram Vivah Panchami festival in Janakpurdham, the sale and distribution of alcohol, as well as fish/meat, has been prohibited for three days. The District Administration Office, Dhanusha, issued a notice on Tuesday, stating that a ban on the sale and distribution of alcohol and fish/meat is in effect from 12:00 midnight on the 28th of Mangsir to 12:00 midnight on the 1st of Poush.

The decision, aimed at ensuring the celebration of the week-long Sita-Ram Vivah Panchami festival in a secure, orderly, and harmonious environment, was made during a meeting of the District Security Committee.

During this period, the sale and distribution of alcohol, consumption, and the slaughter of animals, as well as the sale and distribution of fish/meat within the pilgrimage area of Janakpurdham and along the pilgrimage route, are strictly prohibited, according to the District Chief Officer Chakrapani Pande.
The District Administration Office, Dhanusha, warns that failure to comply with these regulations will result in legal action in accordance with prevailing laws.
