Repeal of ordinance brought to ease party division

Kathmandu: The ordinance brought by the government to facilitate party division has been rejected.

The ordinance brought by the government to amend the Political Parties Act 2073 BS was rejected by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Monday on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba had recommended the Ordinance on Political Parties (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2071 BS, so that the political parties could be divided by increasing the number of parliamentary parties or the Central Committee to 20 percent.
