Public vehicle fares increased by 15 percent

Kathmandu: The government has increased the fare of public transports by 15 percent.

The Department of Transport Management has stated that the fare of passenger vehicles has been increased up to 10 percent as per the ministerial decision of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Similarly, the fare of long distance vehicles has increased by 15 percent. The fare has been increased by 13 percent in the hills and 15 percent in the Terai region.

According to the department, the fare has been increased only for long distance and passenger transport from one state to another.

Now, if the price of fuel fluctuates by more than five percent, it has been decided to adjust the price automatically accordingly.

The department has stated that the new fare rate has been fixed on the basis of 34 percent increase in the price of diesel.
