Kathmandu: Nepal’s public debt has fallen to 2,007 billion rupees, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) stated.
According to the report published by the Ministry of Finance, the public debt of Nepal, both internal and external, has decreased to 2007 billion rupees by the end of mid-December.
Meanwhile, by the mid-July, the public debt was 2,013 billion rupees.
Thus, based on the preliminary data of the 2021 census, if the debt is divided per capita, it comes to 68,755 rupees.
NRB has stated that the reason for the decrease in public debt in mid-December compared to last mid-July is the loan-interest payment made by the government in the first quarter and the failure to obtain loans as per the target in the financial year.
