Protest unfolds at Gautam Buddha International Airport for resumption of international flights

Kathmandu: In an effort to demand the regular operation of international flights and full capacity utilization at Gautam Buddha International Airport, a protest has been initiated from Sunday. The demonstration is taking place at Siddharth Sanyal, the headquarters of 32 private sector organizations in Rupandehi.

The protest was announced by Sanyal, outlining a phased protest starting from Kartik 13. The opposition had conducted a rally in Bhairahawa as per the pre-determined program on Friday.

As per the phased protest program under the ongoing movement, Sanyal has conveyed that the sit-in will continue until further notice. The demonstration will persist within the airport premises for a period of 2 hours daily.

Gautam Buddha International Airport has faced a halt in international flights for over a year, despite attempts by carriers such as Yeti Airlines and Himalayan Airlines to conduct international flights. Currently, 15 aircraft from Buddha, Yeti, and Shree Airlines are engaged in domestic operations from the airport.
