Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that there are no immediate plans to increase salaries for civil servants. Speaking at the 21st Civil Service Day event in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Oli addressed the concerns of civil servants, acknowledging their challenges but stating that the current economic climate does not support a salary hike.
Prime Minister Oli recalled that civil servants had previously received a 25 percent salary increase when the economy was in a stronger position. He remarked that even a modest increase, such as 25 paisa, is currently unfeasible.
“Unless we bolster our resolve and overcome economic challenges, there will be no increase in the remuneration and benefits of civil servants,” he stated.
Oli also criticized the planned opposition to the government, suggesting it was an attempt to appear brave without real action.
He accused some of trying to undermine Nepal’s culture, civilization, and social values.
