Kathmandu – The Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee under the Federal Parliament has directed the government to manage the smooth supply of consumer goods during festivals such as Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.
Narrating the decision of the committee’s meeting held on Wednesday, Chairman Abdul Khan directed the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to increase the number of fair-price shops targeted for the festival, prevent shortage of food items in remote districts including Karnali and make market monitoring effective.
In the meeting, a discussion was held with betel nut farmers and businessmen and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply about the problems seen in the export of betel nuts produced in Nepal.
The committee has also decided to study more about the overall situation of the betel nut business after getting more information from the stakeholders.
