A Troubling Turn: President’s Clemency Recipient Commits Heinous Crime in Rukum Just 25 Days After Release
Lok Bahadur BK, known as Lokendra, a 33-year-old resident of Rukum Paschim Sani Bheri Rural Municipality-9, was granted a presidential pardon on Constitution Day, September 20. This pardon, which came alongside the release of seven others from Rukum Jail due to their good conduct, has taken a grim twist.
Within just 25 days of his release, Lokendra has become the prime suspect in the murder of Bhawana BK, a 28-year-old from Musikot Municipality-7 Sankh. Bhawana was found dead in a hotel room in Musikot Municipality-1, Khalanga Bazaar, with her throat slit. Preliminary investigations suggest a possible connection to an extramarital affair and financial dealings.
Surprisingly, Lokendra’s behavior during his imprisonment was reported as good, and he was scheduled for release on February 2, 2024. However, just 25 days after his release, he is now implicated in a shocking murder case. The tragic incident highlights the need for a reassessment of the criteria and procedures for granting clemency, ensuring the safe reintegration of individuals into society.
