Kathmandu: The government has made a one-week mandatory quarantine for passengers coming to Nepal via South Africa.
A new variant of the corona virus found in South Africa, Omicron, has been declared a variant of concern by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health and Population has stated.
Although Nepal has now made one week quarantine mandatory for non-vaccinated passengers, it has not made hotel quarantine mandatory for fully vaccinated passengers.
The ministry has stated that the new variant will be discussed at a meeting of the Covid Crisis Management Coordinating Committee on Sunday.
