Number of Nepali migrant workers losing life in foreign increases

Kathmandu: A number of Nepali migrating workers losing their lives in foreign country has increased. In last three years, a total of 3,199 Nepali workers have lost their lives in the destination country during their foreign employment.

A statistic has shown that Nepali workers who have reached different countries of the world for foreign employment are losing their lives.

According to the ‘Nepal Labor Migration Report-2022’ published by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, 658 workers lost their lives in the fiscal year 2019/2020, while 1,118 people lost their lives in the financial year 2020/21. Similarly, this number has increased to 1,395 in the financial year 2021/2022.

The statistics also show that the highest number of Nepali workers who lost their lives during foreign employment are from Madhesh province.

In the last three years, 751 Madheshi workers lost their lives in the destination country.
