Kathmandu: The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has taken action against 17 doctors in the last two years for providing harmful treatment to patients. According to the data of the Medical Council, complaints were filed against 66 people in the last two years.
The council has decided that 5 cases of complaints should not be prosecuted.
According to the registrar officer of the council, there were 46 complaints in the council in the previous fiscal year. Similarly, 20 complaints were filed in the council in the current financial year. The doctors who have been prosecuted have been suspended from providing special services for one year to three months based on errors in treatment.
Complaints to the council are about serious negligence on the part of the doctor and not looking after the patient properly.
