Nepali students in Bangladesh urged to stay indoors amid protests

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has issued a notice urging Nepali students residing there to refrain from leaving their residences and hostels unless necessary.

This advisory comes amidst ongoing protests by students in Bangladesh against the government’s reservation system in public sector jobs, resulting in tragic fatalities with six students reported killed so far.

The Embassy emphasized that Nepali students should contact them if their college advises them to relocate from their current residence due to safety concerns. Additionally, students have been advised to maintain regular communication with their educational institutions.

Bangladesh’s government has responded to the situation by temporarily closing schools and universities until further notice. Most Nepali students in Bangladesh are pursuing medical studies.
