Nepali national football team reach Iraq for friendly match

Kathmandu: The Nepali national football team has reached Basra, Iraq on Wednesday afternoon to play a friendly international football match against Iraq.

Nepal is set to play a friendly against former Asian champions and Asian football power Iraq ahead of the rest of the World Cup qualifiers in Kuwait.

The match will be played at the International Stadium in Basra on Saturday.

This will be the first game that Nepal will play under the leadership of Kuwaiti coach Abdullah Almutari. After that, Nepal will play against China, Taipei, Jordan and Australia in the World Cup qualifiers.

This World Cup selection is also an Asia Cup selection and if Nepal can get a favorable result in it, then there will be the possibility of selection of Nepali team in the Asia Cup.
