Nepali content creators earn Rs 3.53 billion in FY 2024/25: NRB

Kathmandu: Nepali content creators earned over Rs 3.53 billion through social media platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook in the fiscal year 2024/25, according to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

The central bank said the number of content creators is steadily rising, with many earning tens of thousands of rupees by producing and posting videos online. NRB has also begun formally recording such digital earnings for the first time.

At the same time, Nepalese users paid Rs 789 million abroad for audio and video services offered by foreign providers, the bank said.

NRB noted that the rapid growth of social media–based content creation is contributing significantly to Nepal’s digital economy, with income flows now large enough to be included in official records.
