Kathmandu: Nepal has won the title of Three Nations Cup Football held in Kathmandu. Nepal won the title by defeating Bangladesh 2-1 in the final match played at Dasharath Stadium on Monday.
Sanjog Rai scored for Nepal in the 18th minute and Bishal Rai in the 42nd minute. Bangladesh scored in the 83rd minute. Nepal, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan under-23 teams participated in the Three Nations Cup.
Nepal led by two goals in the first half but remained sluggish in the second half. Bangladesh, on the other hand, tried to score in the second half.
In the 67th minute, Bangladesh’s Yassin Arafat’s shot came from near the post. Mahbur Rahman scored in the 83rd minute to make it 2-1. Champion Nepal has received a prize of 5,000 US dollars. Bangladesh received 3,000 dollars.
This is the third time that Nepal and Bangladesh have met in the final of football. Earlier, the two teams had played in the final in the first South Asian Games (SAG) of 1994 and the eighth SAG of 1999.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s Rohit Chand has been declared the best player of the Three Nations Cup. Rohit, who has excelled throughout the tournament, has been declared the best player.
He received a cash prize of USD 500.
