Kathmandu: Telephone and broadband internet services will be expanded in all municipalities and wards across the country. For this, an agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and Nepal Telecom.
On behalf of the Ministry, Joint Secretary Dr. Gopi Krishna Khanal and Managing Director of the company Dilli Ram Adhikari signed the agreement on Thursday. As per the agreement, Nepal Telecom will formulate and implement a plan in coordination with the Ministry to provide telephone and broadband internet services in all municipalities and ward offices, health offices, community schools and other government offices.
Telecom has stated that it will provide free internet service for the ‘web based application’ used for the website and online services of the municipality.
Similarly, the agreement stipulates that services including mobile broadband service will be operated in collaboration with telecommunication service providers in remote areas where only voice services are currently available through V-SAT.
