Kathmandu: In a stunning display of dominance, Nepal triumphed over the Maldives with an 11-0 victory in the SAFF Women’s Championship match on Monday. The match, held at Dhasharath Stadium, marked Nepal’s first win in the tournament.
Rekha Poudel was the standout performer, scoring an impressive five goals. Priti Rai contributed significantly with a hat-trick, while Sabita Rana Magar, Anita KC, and Amisa Karki each added one goal to the tally.
This decisive win places Nepal at the top of Group B with four points, following a goalless draw in their previous match on Friday. Bhutan also holds four points but sits in second place due to goal difference.
As the SAFF Championship progresses, India and Bangladesh are scheduled to face off at 5:30 PM on October 23.
