Kathmandu: Nepal has secured a spot in the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship, defeating Bhutan in a dramatic penalty shootout. The first semi-final match took place at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Sunday.
After a 1-1 draw in regular time, Nepal triumphed 4-1 in the penalty shootout. The first half of the match saw both teams unable to score. In the second half, Bhutan’s Jetson Dorjee broke the deadlock, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. However, Nepal’s Nirajan Dhami scored an equalizer, bringing the match to a tie.
Nepal will face the winner of the second semi-final, which is set to be played between India and Bangladesh on Monday. The championship final is scheduled to take place at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday.
