Kathmandu: Manoj Pandey has been arrested for raping a teenager in the name of beauty pageant eight years ago.
Pandey, the organizer of the event, is also the director of Model Global Visas Consultancy.
He organized the Miss Global International pageant in 2014.
According to a video published by the victim, she was invited to the Everest Hotel in Baneshwor for a ‘success party’ and got raped.
She has revealed that Pandey took pictures and videos that day and blackmailed her for six months.
On Wednesday, the victim made public 20 video clips on video sharing platform ‘Tiktok’ and revealed about the incident of rape by the organizer of a beauty pageant eight years ago.
She said that due to the incident, she had been suffering from serious mental problems for eight years and had to take medicine.
However, police said that there was a complication in taking legal action due to the law of one-year deadline for filing a complaint.
The issue has also entered the Parliament meeting.
Congress leader and MP Gagan Kumar Thapa had urged the government to immediately investigate the incident and take action against the culprits.
Meanwhile, Speaker Agni Sapkota also directed the government to move ahead with the investigation.
At the same time, youths spontaneously gathered and staged a sit-in in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar demanding justice.
