Nepal celebrates it’s 15th Republic Day

Kathmandu: Nepal has celebrated its 15th Republic Day today.

The government has celebrated Republic Day with a special ceremony at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. The dove, a symbol of peace, is also flown in the program in the name of peace like every year.

The ceremony was attended by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota, Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsana and other officials of constitutional bodies and representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal.

In Nepal, the federal democratic republican system of governance was announced, ending the autocratic monarchy in 2006. In remembrance of that day, the day is celebrated on 15th of Jeth every year.
