Kathmandu: Nepal has bagged the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship title.
In the final match of the tournament conducted under the double round robin system, Nepal became the champion by playing a 1-1 draw with the home team Bangladesh on Friday.
Nepal became the champion by adding 10 points from four games with three wins and one draw.
A draw was enough for Nepal to win the title, while a win was necessary for Bangladesh. While the match was tied at 1-1, Bangladesh got a penalty at the last minute but could not take advantage of it as the keeper well played the match.
This is the second title won by the women’s football team of Nepal in the age group. Earlier in 2014, U-14 women’s team of Nepal won the U-14 region tournament in Sri Lanka.
This is Nepal’s first title in SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship.
