Nepal Army arrests looters, recovers weapons and cash amid nationwide security operations

Kathmandu: The Nepal Army on Thursday announced a series of security gains following nationwide mobilization of security forces in the wake of recent unrest.

According to a security update issued by the Army, four individuals involved in the looting of Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Maharajgunj were arrested between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Bhadra 25 (Thursday).

Similarly, in Dillibazar–Narayanhiti area, security personnel recovered NPR 232,500 and USD 2,500, abandoned by suspects who fled after spotting patrol teams. The Army also confirmed the recovery of one additional looted firearm, bringing the total to 32 weapons seized so far.

Meanwhile, authorities have recaptured 26 inmates who had escaped from the district prison in Dadeldhura. In Kathmandu, security forces foiled an attempted jailbreak at Dillibazar Central Jail.

The Army stated that security operations remain ongoing across the country to restore law and order.
