National census to begin from tomorrow

Kathmandu: After completing the reparations the 12th National Census will begin on Thursday. 40,000 enumerators will be deployed in the field for the census starting from Thursday.

The enumerators will reach every house and family and will ask a total of 80 questions. The average in a family: one enumerator takes 20 minutes to collect the data. 8,500 enumerators have been deployed across the country to facilitate the census.

This time, tablet computer has been used in Kathmandu district for the census. According to the statistics, a total of 2250 tablets will be used.

An enumerator has to calculate 175 families on an average in 15 days.

It will take 6 to 8 months to process the collected data and publish the results. The department is preparing to submit the collected data to the center by mid-November and give preliminary results within three months.
