National Assembly unanimously endorses transitional justice bill without revisions

Kathmandu: National Assembly has passed the Bill related to transitional justice without any amendments. The Bill, which addresses the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and includes amendments to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Act, was presented to the Upper House on Thursday by Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya.

The proposal, which had previously been approved by the House of Representatives (HoR) on August 14, was adopted unanimously by the National Assembly. Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal confirmed that there were no proposed amendments during the clause-wise discussion on the Bill.

Following the National Assembly’s approval, the Bill has been returned to the HoR. It is now set to be forwarded to President Devraj Ghimire for authentication. Once signed by the President, the Bill will become law.
