Nation will never forget Bipin Joshi: PM Karki

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the nation will never forget the sacrifice and valour of Bipin Joshi.

In her message of condolence today, the Prime Minister stated, “He is no longer with us. But the accounts shared by his colleagues about the extraordinary courage, valour, and selfless sacrifice he demonstrated just before being taken hostage will forever inspire deep gratitude in our hearts.”

“This act of bravery is the greatest legacy of his life—one that will eternally keep him as a symbol of pride for our nation,” the Prime Minister said, paying tribute to Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage by Hamas, a Palestinian group, during their attack in Gaza, Israel on October 7, 2023.

Joshi was among the Nepali students who went Israel to participate in the learning and earning programme. The news of his demise during his captivity that was received in Nepal on Monday has shocked the nation.

Expressing her grief, the Prime Minister said she was deeply shocked to learn of the death of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, despite the two years of hope and collective prayers for his safe return.

“This heart-wrenching news has brought immense sorrow to all of us. In this hour of profound grief, I extend my heartfelt tributes to him and offer my deepest condolences to his bereaved family and loved ones.”

The Prime Minister further stated that Joshi was not just a student, but also a representative of countless Nepali youths who travel abroad in pursuit of knowledge.

“His life was marked by humility, kindness, dedication, and enthusiasm. We had all wished for his safe return, being here to contribute to the development of Nepal.”

“The government and the people of Nepal were united in their prayers and efforts for the safe release of Nepal’s son, taken hostage amid an international conflict. The news of his passing has shattered the hopes and dreams we held for two long years,” the condolence reads.
