More than 16,000 corruption complaints registered in 1 year

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has stated that 16,238 corruption-related complaints were registered in the last fiscal year.

Organizing a press meet today, the commission said that the total number of complaints was 24,331, including 8093 complaints from the previous fiscal year.

In the last fiscal year, there were 12,300 complaints from the Commission’s offices and 12,310 complaints from subordinate offices.

The highest number of complaints related to corruption were registered in Madhes province. Similrly, out of total registered complaints 24.13 percent in Bagmati province, 14.1 percent in Lumbini province, 11.61 percent in province 1, 10.20 percent in Far West, 8.18 percent in Karnali and 7.62 percent in Gandaki.

According to the commission, the number of complaints is increasing compared to previous years.
