Mayor Udaykumar Yadav and others accused of corruption in sanitary pad procurement

Kathmandu: Allegations of corruption have been filed against former Mayor Udaykumar Yadav of Shree Harsha Municipality in Dhanusha, along with several others, for purportedly embezzling approximately NPR 1.4 million in the procurement of sanitary pads. The case has been registered against them for corruption and misuse of authority.

During the fiscal year 2077/78, a deal was reached with Reja Trading Pvt. Ltd. for the procurement of sanitary pads. Prior to the agreement, the payment had been made without proper verification of the quantity of pads to be purchased. The authorities accuse Udaykumar Yadav and others of manipulating the count and engaging in corruption.

The Special Court has initiated legal proceedings against the accused. The individuals named in the case include the former mayor, Udaykumar Yadav, former deputy mayor Shiladevi Yadav, former chief administrative officer Shatrudhan Yadav, former accountant Lokbahadur Nepali, Chief of Gender Section Sudipkumar Bhattarai, Health Coordinator Kapildev Prasad Adhikari, former principal of Shree Madhyamik Vidyalaya Shreekrishna Bhinawar, Sub-Engineer Sarojkumar Mahato, and the proprietor of Reja Trading, Akbar Mansoor.

All accused individuals are required to pay NPR 1,393,000 as bail for their release.
