Kathmandu: The local administration has issued a directive to make masks compulsory in public places in Kathmandu Valley.
On Wednesday, the three district administration offices in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur issued a notice urging people to wear masks in public places.
Stating that there are indications that corona infection has increased in India and may increase in Nepal as well, the administration offices have urged to wear masks and adhere to health safety standards.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has urged to adhere to the health standards by using masks, sanitizer and maintaining social / physical distance while using public transport as it is increasing in the Kathmandu Valley due to the increasing corona infection in India.
Similarly, the administration has urged not to crowd in public places and celebrate Holi inside the house.
A meeting of the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Center held in Lalitpur on Wednesday has decided to strictly adhere to the criteria including maintaining sanitizer, mask and social distance to prevent the spread of corona infection.
Assistant Chief District Officer Lalit Kumar Basnet informed that it has been decided to take action against those who do not wear masks when they go out as per the Infectious Diseases Act, 2020.
Similarly, the administration has requested to make arrangements to stop night business in Lalitpur after 11 pm, not to be crowded while operating the business and to follow the prescribed standards of health and safety. The administration has said not to crowd even on Holi.
The District Administration Office Bhaktapur has also requested not to hold any kind of fair, procession or cultural function without crowding. The administration has also instructed to keep the quarantine and isolation center in operation.
The administration office has urged the locals not to crowd during Holi and to spread awareness to follow the health standards.
