Manoj Pandey, accused of rape, sentenced to 7 years

Kathmandu: Manoj Pandey, who was accused of raping a girl in the name of a beauty contest, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the district court in Kathmandu.

Judge Deepak Dhakal’s bench sentenced Pandey to seven years in prison and to pay compensation of Rs 75,000 to the victim.

After the statute of limitations for the rape charge had passed, the police filed a case against Pandey for child sexual abuse and human trafficking.

Pandey, the organizer of the Miss Global International beauty pageant, was accused of raping a girl participating in the 2014 pageant by inviting her to the Everest Hotel in New Baneshwor.

The girl published 22 video clips on Tik Tok saying that she was a minor at that time and became crazy after that incident.

After the video was released, the Valley Crime Investigation Office met her and asked her to file a case against him.
