Lalitpur metropolis declared fully-immunised local level

Kathmandu: Lalitpur metropolis has been declared a fully immunised local level, becoming the fifth among six local governments in the district to achieve this status.

According to Dr Bhuwan Paudel, Chief of the District Public Health Office, Lalitpur, Mahankal Rural Municipality, Mahalaxmi Municipality, Bagmati Rural Municipality, and Konjyosom Rural Municipality had previously been declared as fully immunised.

Speaking at a programme held to mark the announcement on Wednesday, Lalitpur Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan attributed the collective efforts of health professionals, municipal employees, and local representatives to the achievement.

On the occasion, the Mayor also shared that Lalitpur has been recently recognised as the ‘Best Municipality’ among 293 municipalities across the country by the Municipal Association of Nepal (MuAN).

WHO representative Dr Sagar Shakya was also present at the event.
Sarita Maharjan, Chief of the Metropolis Public Health Section, said that immunisation is a national priority in Nepal’s efforts to reduce child mortality, and the metropolis has taken this priority seriously.
