Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City is going to collect swabs for free PCR test from Sunday.
KMC Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya informed that free PCR test will be conducted at the unveiling ceremony of the statue of national icon Shankhadhar Sakhwa and human rights campaign leader Padmaratna Tuladhar on Saturday.
He told reporters at the event that the work of collecting swabs would be resumed from Sunday.
He further added that there is also a readiness to operate a mobile van to collect swabs for PCR testing of disabled and senior citizens undergoing contact tracing.
Saying that the metropolis is preparing to widen the scope of testing, Mayor Shakya has requested to conduct PCR test only for those who are in contact tracing and showing symptoms.
He also said that effective steps have to be taken to break the cycle of corona infection which has been increasing in the Valley recently.
