Kathmandu: The District Court of Kaski has approved an additional ten-day extension for the police custody of Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, as investigations continue into his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of cooperative funds. Lamichhane was first arrested on October 18 on charges linked to financial irregularities.
This marks the third extension of Lamichhane’s custody since his arrest. His previous custody term expired on October 30, but due to the Tihar festival holidays, the case was presented before the court on Tuesday when it reopened. Court spokesperson Suraj Adhikari confirmed that the decision for further detention was made by a bench led by Judge Chandrakanta Paudel.
Lamichhane’s initial court appearance took place on October 20, and his legal team has yet to comment on the latest developments in the case.
