Judge Karki announces not to look into dispute over dissolution of Parliament

Kathmandu: Judge Harikrishna Karki has announced that he will not sit in the constitutional bench hearing the dissolution of the parliament.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR had appointed Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Anil Kumar Sinha and Tej Bahadur KC in the constitutional bench headed by him for hearing the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Senior advocates Shambhu Thapa, Raman Shrestha and Dinesh Tripathi questioned Judge Karki’s participation in the hearing, which began on Wednesday after receiving a written reply from the opposition. He argued that there was a conflict of interest in the case as there was an Attorney General in the previous government led by Karki and KP Sharma Oli.
