International Calendar Decision Committee announces auspicious timing for Bada Dashain Tika

Kathmandu: The International Calendar Decision Committee has officially announced the auspicious times for Bada Dashain tika for 32 countries, including Nepal.

Member-secretary Laxman Panthi reported that the decision was made in response to growing requests from Hindu communities worldwide concerning the timing of Bijaya Dashami Tika.

For Kathmandu, the most favorable time is set for 11:36 AM on October 12 (Asoj 26). In India, the auspicious moment is slightly later at 11:42 AM on the same day. Notable timings for the United States include 10:01 AM for New York, 10:39 AM for Frankfurt, Kentucky, 10:05 AM for both Texas and Washington, DC, and 09:55 AM for California.

Canadian timings are 10:15 AM for Toronto and 10:27 AM for Vancouver. For other countries, the committee has provided the following auspicious times:

  • Tokyo, Japan: 11:35 AM (October 13)
  • Sydney, Australia: 11:21 AM (October 13)
  • Melbourne, Australia: 11:27 AM (October 13)
  • Brisbane, Australia: 11:27 AM (October 13)
  • Canberra, Australia: 11:29 AM (October 13)
  • Wellington, New Zealand: 11:15 AM (October 13)

In Europe, the recommended times include 10:24 AM for Lisbon, Portugal, 10:21 AM for London, UK, 10:23 AM for Paris, France, and 10:19 AM for Oslo, Norway.

For Southeast Asia, the timings are 11:21 AM for Bangkok, Thailand and 11:57 AM for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Additionally, the committee identified 11:45 AM for Abu Dhabi, UAE, 12:00 PM for Doha, Qatar, and 09:16 AM for Tel Aviv, Israel as auspicious moments. In East Asia, the recommended times are 9:15 AM for Hong Kong and 11:43 AM for Seoul, South Korea.

Committee President Dr. Madhab Bhattarai noted that the decision was made to accommodate the Vedic Sanatan Hindu community spread across the globe, emphasizing the importance of receiving the tika during these auspicious moments.
