Infrastructure Minister reveals reconstruction costs following recent floods and landslides

Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has announced that the reconstruction efforts following the recent floods and landslides will require an estimated budget of NPR 20 to 25 billion.

Speaking at a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee of the House of Representatives, Minister Dahal explained that this estimate covers damages to private homes and public roads.

He also provided an update on the efforts to reopen blocked highways, stating that work is being expedited, including the rental of private construction equipment to assist in the process. Additionally, Minister Dahal acknowledged complaints regarding excessive charges from airlines and urged companies to reconsider their pricing.

During the meeting, lawmakers emphasized the need for swift action to reopen highways and called for the government’s immediate attention to this pressing issue.
