Kathmandu: Indian Embassy has stated that they had conveyed its views on the border dispute with Nepal to the Government of Nepal. It also said that the intergovernmental mechanism is a suitable medium for dialogue.

Nepal has been criticized after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is expanding roads in Lipulek. The ruling and opposition parties have urged the government to hold a diplomatic dialogue with India and stop the road expansion immediately. The government has not yet spoken formally.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu issued a statement on Saturday stating that the Government of India’s position on the Nepal-India border was well-known, stable and clear. A statement from the Indian Embassy said, “We believe that the Government of Nepal has been informed of this.”

The Indian embassy also said that border issues could be addressed on the basis of the spirit of close and friendly bilateral relations.
