India, Pakistan Agree to Immediate Full Ceasefire

Kathmandu: India and Pakistan have agreed to a full ceasefire, effective immediately, following high-level communication between senior officials from both countries.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the development on Saturday. According to Misri, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) held a phone conversation with his Indian counterpart earlier in the day, during which both sides agreed to halt all military operations.

In an official statement, Misri said, “Both sides have agreed to cease all military actions — on land, at sea, and in the air — starting from 5:00 PM IST today.” He added that orders have been issued to the respective DGMOs to implement the agreement without delay.

Further communication between the military officials of both nations is scheduled for May 12 at 12:00 PM.

In an interview with Geo TV, Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized that the agreement is a “complete ceasefire,” not a partial one. He also confirmed that military communication channels, including the bilateral hotline system, have been reactivated.

The agreement marks a significant development in efforts to reduce tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
