Kathmandu: A meeting of the Secretary-level Intergovernmental Committee for the Control of Trade, Transit and Illegal Trade between Nepal and India concluded on Monday via video conference.
The conference discussed trade agreements between Nepal and India, drafts of agreements and prevention of unauthorized trade. According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, India is positive about Nepal’s emphasis on the amendment of the Transit Treaty and the Railway Services Agreement.
The Indian side has informed that an integrated check post has been set up in Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa and is preparing to start it soon.
Similarly, Nepal has proposed to build a check post and a railway in line with the dry port being constructed in Chandni Dodhara area of Kanchanpur. The Indian side has been positive in this too.
