India and South Africa face-off in ICC T20 World Cup final today

Kathmandu: Cricket enthusiasts worldwide are gearing up for an exhilarating finale as India and South Africa clash in the ICC T20 World Cup final today. The highly anticipated match is scheduled to commence at 8:15 PM Nepali time at Bridgetown.

India secured their berth in the final with a commanding victory over defending champions England, triumphing by 68 runs in the second semifinal. This marks India’s second appearance in a T20 World Cup final, having clinched the title in the inaugural 2007 tournament and finishing as runners-up in 2014.

In contrast, South Africa is making history by entering their maiden T20 World Cup final. They secured their place by defeating Afghanistan with an impressive nine-wicket victory in the first semifinal. Previously, South Africa reached the semifinals in 2009 and 2014 editions of the tournament.

Both teams have maintained flawless records throughout the ninth edition of the World Cup, with South Africa winning all eight of their matches and India triumphing in seven encounters. India’s match against Canada was affected by rain, resulting in shared points.

The USA and the West Indies are jointly hosting this edition of the T20 World Cup, which commenced on June 2 and featured participation from 20 countries. Nepal, making their second appearance in the tournament, exited during the group stage after a competitive campaign.
