Home Minister Lekhak vows to quit politics if corruption allegations proven

Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said he will resign from his post and retire from politics if any corruption allegations against him are proven true.

Speaking on Saturday, Lekhak responded to recent media reports linking him to a visit visa scam at Tribhuvan International Airport’s immigration office.

“If even a single instance of financial irregularity in any part of my public or political life is proven, I will leave politics altogether,” he said.

The statement came after the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) accused Lekhak and his secretariat of involvement in human trafficking through the misuse of visit visas and demanded his immediate resignation for an impartial investigation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has denied any involvement of its leadership in the case.
