Kathmandu: The cabinet has appointed Lila Devi Gadtaula as the country’s first female Chief Secretary, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s administrative history. The announcement was made following today’s Council of Ministers meeting.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung confirmed Gadtaula’s appointment. Despite this historic achievement, Gadtaula’s tenure as Chief Secretary will be notably brief.
Due to age limits specified in the Civil Service Act, she is set to retire on August 31, making her term just 35 days long.
